USSF To Announce First Round U.S. Open Cup Soccer Match-ups Thursday

Paul Snape scored the game's only goal in the 15th minute, sending a high shot over the Slayers' keeper, Eric Pogue. George Kithas notched an assist in his first-ever game with Mid Michigan. The Bucks sent 28 shots towards the Toledo net, while the Slayers (1-3-1) managed 18 on Peter Dzubay, who played his second consecutive outstanding game for the Bucks in goal. "We played some different guys in today and had a different look. I am happy with the win, but we have a lot to work on," said Bucks coach, Don Gemmell. Mid Michigan, now 4-0-1 in Premier Development League (PDL) play, return home Saturday night (7:30pm) against Columbus at Berkley's Hurley Field.

U.S. Open Cup Pairings Announced Tomorrow
The Bucks' First Round opponent in the 2003 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup will be revealed tomorrow (May 29th) by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Six PDL and four United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA) teams will be paired to play four games, to be completed by June 8th, with two squads getting First Round byes. This will be Mid Michigan's fifth appearance in the country's oldest soccer tournament, which also features teams from the Pro Select League (Division III), the A-League (Division II) and Major League Soccer (Division I), entering in the Second, Third and Fourth Rounds, respectively. The four Round One winners, plus the two teams receiving byes, will face the six qualified PSL squads in Round Two action, which is scheduled for June 25th.

BUCKS BACK IN BERKLEY ON SATURDAY, MAY 31ST
Oakland County soccer fans can enjoy the minor league soccer action at Hurley Field in Berkley on Saturday, May 31st, as the Bucks face the Columbus Stars at 7:30pm with tickets costing just $9 at the gate.
