BUCKS DROP WEST MICHIGAN 5-0

Columbus Game on Saturday in Canton is Final Tune-up before Rough Riders

Nate Craft (Royal Oak) provided three assists and Simon Omekanda (Rochester) scored a natural hat-trick as the Mid Michigan Bucks minor league soccer team beat the West Michigan Edge (3-5-2), 5-0, on Tuesday night in Holland, Michigan. Jeff Wiese (Oakland University) needed to make just one save in net on the night for the Bucks (8-1-1). "We can't even compare the Edge to what we will see against an undefeated D-3 Pro team like Long Island," said Bucks coach, Don Gemmell. "But I was glad to see us finally start to finish our chances." The Detroit-based Bucks face the 2002 Division 3 Pro League Champions, the Long Island Rough Riders, in Round Two action of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on June 25th at Berkley's Hurley Field. "We need to raise the level of our game before next Wednesday - and I thought tonight's game was a step in the right direction," said Gemmell. The Bucks' next league game is this Saturday against Columbus in Canton, Michigan.
